Gibraltar events calendar 2026–2027: festivals, key dates and where to stay
7 min read

Gibraltar is small, and hotel capacity is limited. When a major event comes around, rooms sell out weeks in advance and serviced apartments become the easiest way to stay close to the action.
This guide covers the recurring events for the rest of 2026 and for 2027. Exact dates are confirmed each year by the organisers and HM Government of Gibraltar, so always check the official announcements before booking.
Rest of 2026: October to December
- Gibraltar International Literary Festival (usually November): authors, historians and broadcasters from the UK and beyond, with talks across historic venues in town.
- Christmas lights and festive markets (late November to December): the lights switch-on, Casemates Square celebrations and late shopping along Main Street.
- New Year's Eve (31 December): an open-air party and countdown in Casemates Square, one of the busiest nights of the winter.
Spring 2027
- Gibraltar Drama Festival (typically March): a week of local and visiting theatre companies.
- Spring Festival (spring months): a programme of concerts, exhibitions and community events run around the territory.
- Easter and the May bank holidays: strong demand from UK visitors and from Spain's Costa del Sol.
Summer 2027: the peak season
- Calentita Food Festival (usually June): Casemates Square fills with stalls celebrating Gibraltar's mix of British, Genoese, Maltese, Moroccan and Andalusian cooking.
- King's Birthday celebrations (June): the traditional ceremonial parade.
- Summer nights and concerts: open-air events, beach days at Catalan Bay and long evenings in Ocean Village and Marina Bay.
Autumn and winter 2027
- Sailing and marina events through the autumn, centred on Ocean Village and Queensway Quay.
- Gibraltar International Literary Festival 2027 (usually November).
- Christmas season and New Year's Eve 2027 in Casemates Square.
